Two populations of patients with breast cancer, comprising ~800 cases from the Mayo Clinic and ~4,500 cases from East Anglia, England, were analyzed for SNP associations in the decorin and lumican genes. rs2268578 was associated with breast cancer in both populations; in combined analyses, the odds ratio for rs2268578(C;T) was 1.1 (CI: 0.9-1.2) and 1.9 (CI: 1.3-2.8, p 2 df = 0.001) for homozygotes.
