rs6427528 is a SNP in the chromosome 1q23 region apparently located near enough to the CD84 locus to affect it's expression.

A GWAS study of 2,700+ rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients treated with one of three anti-TNF drugs found that rs6427528(A) carriers had higher CD84 expression and responded better to etanercept treatment. The effect was statistically significant but not that large in magnitude, totaling 2.6% of the variance in response to etanercept treatment. The result was seen in European (Caucasian) patients, but perhaps due to small patient numbers, was not statistically supported in Japanese patients.[PMID 23555300OA-icon.png]
