99% of the time, just removing the pmid is good enough. If you want to be extra careful, you could wrap it in a wiki comments <!-- bots will see this, humans won't -->

Please put the major template (ie Rsnum, Gene, Genotype) above any text. http://www.snpedia.com/index.php?title=SPAST&diff=561048&oldid=561047 ... good bad

I used your gene template to create the entire page all at once, including the text in the body of the article. It created the entire page like that in a single edit. Wasn't sure if you were aware. I can go back and fix what the gene template is doing wrong. --McJosh (talk) 14:44, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
thanks. should be fixed now.

Thanks for the continuing high quality edits. You've correctly figured out that PMID Auto really is meant for automatically populated content, and that things written by humans should be changed. You've used the Mediawiki standard [PMID 1234567], which works fine, but we've introduced {{PMID|1234567}} which has the advantage of setting a semantic property. Here is an example of that change to your recent edit, and the benefit of making a property, the ability to ask which snps are mentioned by a specific paper. --- cariaso 23:23, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
