This SNP, located in the 3' UTR of the CSNK1E gene, has been associated with sensitivity to the acute effects of d-amphetamine. Sensitivity to psychoactive drugs has been associated with potential to develop drug abuse. The more sensitive allele is rs135745(C). [PMID 16237383]
However, in a separate study, this SNP did not affect susceptibility to methamphetamine dependence or psychosis, at least in a Japanese population.[PMID 18991847]
