The T allele of rs2273647 in the PPP4R3A gene was found to reduce glucose decline, and in an independent data set, was shown to have some protective effect against the risk of converting from MCI to Alzheimer's disease (p = 0.038) and to protect against cognitive decline in those with AD (p = 3.41 × 10-15 ). The number of patients analyzed in this study is not stated in the abstract and may not be large.[PMID 29130521]
