[PMID 18381463] The homozygous (A;A) was associated with a significantly increased bladder cancer risk [odds ratios (OR), 2.40; 95% confidence interval (95% CI), 1.04-5.56]. Evaluation of Genetic Variants in MicroRNA-Related Genes and Risk of Bladder Cancer, the AA genotype of GEMIN3 rs197414 was associated with a 2.5-fold (95% CI, 1.08–5.78; P = 0.03) increased risk when compared with the combined CC/CA genotypes. Their "finding reinforces the notion that bladder cancer is a polygenic process and thus a combined analysis of multiple factors may have a greater ability to characterize high-risk populations."
