Talk:Rs15931

From SNPedia

This page refers to Rs15931 being associated with the SV2A gene but the box to the right references HIST2H2BE.

They appear to be neighboring genes

It's just the author's favoritism for the more well characterized SV2A. I see no evidence of an error. --- cariaso 21:17, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

I've edited to hopefully make things clearer. The problem is that the journal article title itself is misleading, which is causing the confusion. I don't have access to the article but the abstract is clear that the variant is in the "gene region." In other cases like this it turns out that a rarer variant in the gene is actually causative and the nearby associated variant is just in strong linkage with it. Thus the variant is not causative but can be used as a proxy. -- Jlick (talk) 00:38, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
