Hypertriglyceridemia
From SNPedia
People with hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) have elevated blood levels of fatty acids. This condition may be a result of diet, alcohol use, medications, diseases such as diabetes, genetic predisposition, or many other causes. Triglyceride levels can be lowered with dietary restrictions or medication. Wikipedia Hundreds of common SNPs have been associated with hypertriglyceridemia; most have small effects.
The following SNPs have been associated with severe hypertriglyceridemia. [PMID 18596051]
- rs4846914 in the GALNT2 gene
- rs17145738, reported as in the TBL2/MLXIPL gene
- rs17321515 in the TRIB1 gene
- rs12130333, reported as near the ANGPTL3 and LEPR genes
- rs780094 in the GCKR gene
- rs3135506 (S19W) in the APOA5 gene
- rs662799 (-1131T > C) in the APOA5 gene
- rs328 (S447X) in the LPL gene
Many other SNPs are thought to affect risk of hypertriglyceridemia, including the following:
