Most common genotype; slightly higher odds of giving birth to fraternal twins

A meta-analysis found that the most common allele for this SNP, rs11031006(G), is actually associated with a slightly higher likelihood of giving birth to fraternal (dizygotic) twins (odds ratio 1.41, CI:1.29–1.53, p= 1.54 × 10e−9) compared to carriers of the (A) allele. A subsequent replication study of Icelanders yielded lower odds (1.14, CI:1.06–1.22,p=3 × 10e−3).
