rs6869366, also known as G-1394T, is a SNP in the DNA repair XRCC4 gene.
A study of 158 Taiwanese patients found an association between carriers of a rs6869366(G) allele and increased risk for bladder cancer. The odds ratio was 2x for heterozygotes; no (T;T) homozygotes were seen in this study.[PMID 19443403]
Risk was further studied based on smoking history. Smokers who were also rs6869366(T) carriers were at even higher risk (crude OR=3.29, CI: 1.21-8.90, adjusted OR=3.35, CI=1.41-8.49), implying a gene-smoking interaction.[PMID 19443403]
